What do you do when you have made a commitment, and you go through a period when your feelings don't match your commitment?
I have a suspicion that the reason we make a commitment is so that regardless of what changes, including our feelings, it doesn't change what we are going to do. We have made a decision in advance, in a rational way, because we know that moment will come when we are challenged to reneg on what we have decided.
When we commit to doing something hard and important with long term benefits, there will be a crucial moment when we don't feel like sticking to it. How we respond at that moment will determine how we paint the picture of our lives.
